Skin Care Regimen When You are in the Forties

As we age, our bodies start to change, especially in our faces. Signs of aging such as wrinkles, dark spots, lines are start appearing on our faces; this is inevitable. We will not be forever young, but we can age gracefully if we take care of ourselves. Self-care and following a healthy lifestyle will make us youthful and beautiful. 

When I was a little younger than I am right now, I am not the type of woman who would have a regular skincare regimen. Back then, I will wash my face with soap and water, and I will go to bed. Sometimes I don’t even wash my face if I am so tired and busy from work. But when I turned forty, I become conscious of myself when I start getting dark spots and wrinkles on my face. So I tried using different products that I found online to get rid of the dark spots on my face, but I did not see a good result.  You really need to try the product before you continue using it; if it is really doing the job done. A positive review doesn’t guarantee that it will be effective for you since we have a different skin type. It may be effective for you, but not for me.

When I was on the hunt for a perfect skincare product online, luckily, I saw my friend’s photo on Instagram. She’s always been pretty, but I was so intrigued why she is always glowing and looking fresh every day.  So I asked what kind of beauty products she uses to make her glow and look baby face every day. She worked as a beauty consultant, so she sends me these different samples to try on. I started using it, and after a few days, I noticed the difference, so I decided to purchase the sets of a beauty regimen; since then, I noticed that my dark spots started to lighten, and my skin glowed like hers. I feel like I am looking young in my forties right now.

I am following these skincare routines as recommended by my friend. She gave me the 7 and 9 Steps Skin Care Routine, but I modified it according to my need.

  • Cleanser – it removes all the dirt we accumulated in the day
  • Toner – using a toner helps remove the remaining dirt in our face
  • Serum – use to smooth the skin texture, helps to make it firmer.
  • Eye Cream * – it treats wrinkle and puffiness on the eyes.
  • Spot Treatment – targets the problem areas in the face like dark spots, pimples, and acne.
  • Moisturizer – it protects the skin from damage and keeps the skin hydrated.
  • Sun Screen – helps to prevent sunburn and premature aging; it also decreased the risk of cancer.

You can use more steps than this, this is just my preference. Using eye cream is optional for me. You can also add retinol in your regimen.

Taking care of yourself is important, especially when you reached a certain age. This is not to look good with your spouse or boyfriend, or partner, but it is primarily for you to be confident and bring out the best in you. So, before it’s too late, start your beauty regimen now to protect your skin from harsh toxins from everyday lives and from the environment. Being beautiful is not just the physical looks; being beautiful inside is the most important part.  When we are beautiful inside, it radiates outside.
